Lorenzo!

Hello Everyone! I'm sure everyone is still busy with the holidays and the long vacation of our kids. I just jumped out of my Mommy's kitchen and tried to scrap a little to relax my aching back. I wanted to join the Scrappin' Kids third challenge which will be due by the end of this month. I was so excited to scrap Enzo's christmas pictures and so I thought of doing this for their challenge, but... I just don't know if christmas theme will be allowed. Well, I'll just try my luck, so wish me luck!
I used here Teri Martin of Creative Imaginations' Be Merry Paper, got this nice christmas paper from Lasting Impression long ago. I gathered all the gift tags from Enzo's presents and bundled it with a ribbon. Then together with my journal, I slipped them under his photo to hold them. It was really hard to put him in a good mood to shoot, kaya I have to be ready all the time to capture his smile. Sulit naman ang pagod ko when I saw this picture!

4 Days before Christmas...

My life is finally back to normal! My room is finally fixed, i love my floor and my closet is completely organized. Our Christmas tree is finally clean and up and the presents are all wrapped up. Enzo has been running around the tree and I'm afraid the decorations won't last til new year. I altered 10 clocks as presents for my cousins, very simple layouts only para madali akong makatapos. Here is one of my favorite...

Party on!

I'm so excited to use my BG-Mellow papers, this is part of my prize from MLA's BG-multiphoto challenge last Ocotber... here is a layout that I made for my son Luigi. It was his first time to attend an acquaintance party, it's a welcome party given to the freshmen and new comers in their school. I used here Ripe, Birch and Slack pps, mellow white and fall leaves black rubons, some cardstacks for my journal and photo mat, gold acrylic paint , dmc threads, colorbox ink chalk, antique embies, gold brads and ranger glossy accents clear-dimensional embellishment. Again, I used my magic-plastic mesh with holes and dabbed it with gold ink creating polkadot effect on the left side of the paper. Then, I paper-teared the Birch pps and inked it with colorbox, adhered and sewed on the base paper. I torn it some more and folded some parts of the inked paper creating a more distressed effect. Then, I finally used my glossy accents, it has a glossy and epoxy effect... ang galing at sarap gamitin! I got it also from MLA during our christmas party. So here's my layout... hope my son will like what I made for him!

Anay!!!!

It's 12 days before Christmas and everyone is surely busy preparing gifts and decorating their houses, but not for me!!! Dodo and I decided to have our closet repaired because I saw the walls of our cabinet bubbling up and I suspected that the "pulutong of ANAY" has come back again. So after calling the guys that will work on my closet, work immediately started to get finish long before christmas time comes. But during the process, my bedroom floors which was 100% wood too were also attacked by this culprit. So they have to remove everything until my whole house was totally a MESS! Enzo and I would have to move out because my uncle had to spray and give a great grand treatment for these anay to die and eventually go away!!!

I'm totally bothered because this is an unexpected gastos for my husband and I, but we have no choice but to have everything fix before christmas day. Well it's not that I want my house to look really well during the holidays, we have to rush because it'll really be hard to pull labor forces during the holidays. And lastly, my allergy is in super bloom right now.

Well, I pray that this will end in another 3-5 days. Right now, the anay treatment is going on, so this means no construction for the whole day because of the smell of the chemicals. Tomorrow my floors should be done and the cabinets should have the first coat of duco paints. This is all for now muna, have to find ways to brighten up my day! Sana matapos na ang lahat at ng maka-scrap naman ako!!!

A lot to be THANKFUL!

It was the 1st joint Christmas Party of SE and PS yesterday and I was just so excited to attend kasi finally member na rin ako ng Pinoy! The event was like a mini-Scrapfest (sabi nga ni Liza B.), plus it was so much fun because of the games and raffles. For me, it was a very lucky day too and I have so much to be thankful for...

Thanks to Tita Marian King for appreciating the cards that I made. She was so generous to give us all a little token, I got 4 MME pps!

Thanks to Mam Marinella of Creative Me, I got the third place in the altered CD wall hanger. She gave me a pack of Scenic Route Chipboard letters...yum!

Thank God,I had a chance to shop again! I just love all the stash that I got... the bag of bottons and the train mini album from Scrapbukan, a bottle of glaze from My Little Attic, the journaling notepad and doodle like sticker strip and my christmas papers from Lasting Impression, the Scenic Route chipboards from Rekindled Moments and the chipboard monogram letters from Yellow Violet House... can't wait to use them all!

Here's my exchange gift "last steal" from Vanessa Aguilar, thanks Vani for the stamps and the papers! Cookie Aguilar was my partner in crime!

I was lucky I was picked twice in the raffle... I got prima pps and another pack of papers and rub ons from Master Iris Uy.

My special thanks to Marisa K. of Scrapbooks Hawaii and Nette of My Little Attic! I'm so so happy for winning the Around the Block challenge! My layout was very masculine and simple, but Ms. Jennifer Straus was so kind enough to detailed her comments. Maraming Salamat Po ulit! And now here's my yummy yummy prizes!!!

Everything was such a great early Christmas present for me! I had the whole day staring at my new stash and now it's time to CREATE! THANKS Everyone!

1st of December

It's December 1 na... and there's a lot of things that had happened on this day! First, it's almost the deadline for Scrapbooks Hawaii's Around the Block contest and so I emailed na may entry to my tukayo Marisa. I was super excited when I made this layout because I get to paint again. I used this 6" foil mesh with holes (actually, hindi ko alam ang tawag dito) which we got from divisoria. I laid it flat on my cardstock and just dabbed it with MM paint using a foam brush. Here's my layout...

Then, we attended my nephew's 5th birthday in Taguig. Enzo was a KILL-JOY, he doesn't want to join the crowd because he was so afraid of the CLOWN! He would just stay far away from the party place and just play all by himself.
Then after the party, we went to Serendra and Market Market with my Tito Rene, Tita Elsa and my cousins. Had a little time to unwind and look for ano pa! scrapbook things... I got 2 more 12x12 paper holders and 2 letter rub ons in Japan. Oh, it was also my birthday nga pala that day! I almost forgot... thanks for everyone who remembered me!

The 1st of December...it starts my official Christmas countdown and another wonderful year or should I say many more years of my life to come.

Here's my first attempt naman to make a card, I made this Christmas card for my SE CCX07 Baby... secret muna! I hope she likes it...

Scrapbytes' Entry for November 2007

Here's my entry for the Scrapbytes' Challenge for November... Adorable! This time I wanted to scrap my backlogs for Luigi's album, it has been quite awhile since I last made some layouts for him, siguro summer pa ata was the last one. Luigi is in highschool na and I don't want to miss anything in his 1st year in highschool. For this layout, I just adore my Mom for being the best Lola ever for my kids...

Disney Layout...

I want to share this Disneyland layout that I made for my Tita and cousins. Making multi-photo layouts is very challenging too, although a lot of space may be covered by the photos, you still have to choose the right embies... the color and size that will enhance more your page and photos. I know, I'm not that good in multi-photos layouts but I'm learning a lot now...

The Colors of Christmas...

It's almost Christmas! And this is my favorite time of the year, oh not to mention that I will be another year older again!(that's the only part that I hate, hehehe!)It is so unsual of me that until now I haven't put up my tree and my trimmings. Enzo is finally complaining about it, then he would just go to Mommyla's house and play with their belen. Still have so many things to do and so many things to clean... tinatamad na tuloy akong gumalaw. But in spite of all these, I finally changed the look and color of my blog, kahit dito manlang may christmas spirit na sa bahay namin. Olive green and christmas red with a touch of gold are always my favorite christmas colors, that's why I choose these colors for the new look of my blog. With the guitar background playing "Joy to the World", saan araw-araw ay pasko na lang!

Last weekend I had a great experience, I was able to go to divisoria again after 3 years! Yes, eversince Enzo was born I haven't seen divisoria na. I almost bowed in front of the 168 mall, glad to be there for the first time. Although I did not shop much, just moving around gave me a back ache. But I have to look for something scrapable, well I got bottons, poinsettia flowers and ribbons from Tabora St. Then, we went to Memory Lane to pick up some orders and next was the openning of Lasting Impression in San Juan. I love your store Viv, very shabby chic and spacy. I got a new clear stamp and some more boy embies. It was a jam-packed day ... but I had a grandest time! Thanks to Ytet and hubby Alain for the whole day treat!

Piggy Tales!

I miss scrapping for myself! After the Scrappin' Moms' Idol, I kinda-slow down in making layouts for myself, I only made 3 layouts since then. But I'm so happy with that! One of it was the MLA-BG which I unexpectedly won. Here's the latest, my Piggy Tales entry entitled "As You Sleep..., another challenge sponsored by Lasting Impression. I just love to see Enzo taking a nap, it's the time I can kiss and hug him without hesitations, it's his moment to recharge his batteries to be playful and makulit again, it's the time that I realize that my baby is now a little boy! These are my thoughts everytime I see my boy sleeps...

A Day for Maxine...

Flowers and a candle for our little girl Maxine! A day to remember our departed loved ones... my prayers for my Dad, my grandparents, my favorite uncles Oboy and Totoy, and of course my Maxine. It was also a day for family reunions and bonding... Tito Rene and Tita Vicky with Rita came, same with my cousins from Sucat Ellen and kids, Heidi, Ronald and Nancy. Janice, Jonjo and Anna also dropped by to offer candles for my Dad.
May their souls rest in peace and may they find it in the arms of Our Lord!

MLA-Basic Grey Challenge

April Joy Lim and Helga buzzed me yesterday and told me that I won the Basic Grey Multi-pictures Challenge of My Little Attic. Nette send me the newsletter and it goes... "CONGRATULATIONS TO Issa Lucido!!!!26 October 2007 MLA NEWSLETTER: Kelly Goree of Basic Grey said, “ I adore Splash by Issa V. And the raised splash elements sent me over the moon (not to mention how cute her little guy is!)” Congratulations to you Issa!!! Your layout is truly a winner!!! I’m expecting the new lines of BG to arrive anytime soon so just wait for your prizes in the mail. Thank you so much to everyone who took time to participate in this challenge. Wait for MLA’s next challenge soon! Enjoy your long weekend everyone!"

I used here BG-Lucky Iris; Oh Baby! Boy-Garic, Nathan and Jackson, Heidi Swapp schizophrenic and she chipboard letters painted with MM Paint blueberry, star brads, bottons, dmc thread and foam tapes. I backstitched my circles. I made the splashes with the paisley swirl template by Crafters Workshop. I used foam tapes and chalk ink on the splashes to add a 3D effect. Lastly, I always sew my bottons! I was super puyat as in I finished this layout at 2:30 in the morning.

Thanks to Ms. Kelly Goree of BG for choosing my layout and for her wonderful comments. Nette for the heart warming greetings and for being so kind to us, the LB Scrapaholics. Thomas Train and Chuy chuy!

Friday night last week, I had to rush two layouts! I wanted to join the BG contest of My Little Attic and the DT call of Studio Azul. Well, I just wanted to do layouts and next priority na lang siguro ang mga contests. It has been like 3 weeks since I made one layout for myself, I think it was my Idol layout pa ata.

I enjoyed doing this layout! Took me more than hour to do before I dressed up to attend Joanne Yap's despidida party in Makati last Saturday. I used Sandylion's Thomas Phrase paper and Scenic Route grid paper and strips. Thomas Train is always a favorite of my little Enzo, he can watch his VCD the whole day and night while playing with this new train, a gift from Lolo Bill and Lola Linda.

I'm in the Basic Grey Gallery...

I was super busy last week finishing the rest of the scrap pages for Joanne Yap. Timi was here last Thursday and she convinced me to upload some of my layouts to BasicGrey.com. She uploaded my "Dear Maxine" layout and even made a short description about my work , then told me to wait for 2 days to see if Basic Grey will accept my submission.

Friday night, I checked my mail before I went to bed and found this..."Congratulations, your layout has been selected to appear in our on-line gallery at http://www.basicgrey.com/! We appreciate your time and talent and thank you for using BasicGrey papers and embellishments." I was so happy! Thanks Timi for encouraging me...

Here's another submission that was accepted in the Basic Grey gallery... my Family Moments clock that I have in my living room.

Mommyla is Home!

Mommy is finally home! Her arrival was one day delayed because her plane leaving from Philadelphia had the tires changed for 2 hours, means her connecting flight from Detroit to Nagoya, Japan had to leave her. She came on time naman last night. The 2 boys were so excited to see her, miss na miss ang Mommyla nila!
Enzo just can't get his eyes off on Thomas the Train and the stuffed toys Kuya JE and Ian gave him, while Kuya Luigi kept his jacket and shirts at once.

I want to thank my generous family in the States for all the pasalubong for my whole family!... My Uncle Bill and Auntie Linda, cousins Dionne and Mike, Donna and Seth, Reggie and Marilyn, Jigs and Camille, and May Ann and Edison. I'm so overwhelmed and really speechless for sending me all this scrapbooking "luho"! Maraming Salamat talaga!

A day with JOANNE YAP!

Joanne Yap is a true Scrapbooking Idol, a genuine Scrappin' Mom, Ms. Congeniality, my Boss, my rachada chatmate and a dear Friend! She came to my house early morning yesterday... discussed some work, left some pointers to follow and chatted the rest of the day with my fellow LB Scrapaholics. She finally visited us here in Los Banos, maybe it'll take a long time to be seeing her again.

I will miss you Joanne! I still hope to have long chats with you kahit nasa Australia ka na... take care my friend!

Goodies....... yummy!

Scrapfest is always a day of fun, fun, fun and SHOPPING! Althought I was too occupied because of the Idol challenge, I still found some time to buy some stuff... things that I really like! Oh, thanks for the bag of goodies from the Scrappin' Moms too... thanks to Delmonte Kitchenomics, Coca Cola, Working Moms and Rekindled Moments.

My Idol Layout!

I choose this photo of Dodo and Enzo because I feel happy to see them together, and this was the theme for the Grand Finals of Scrappin' Mom's Idol "What Makes Me Happy". It was a 3-hour on the spot challenge using an acrylic sheet, whaaaa! it was my first time to use an acrylic and to tell you the truth, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! So I just turned on my MP3 player and started to play. I was seated on the 3rd table with Au Lim, Cookie Aguilar and Cabbie Lopez. I was totally blank but I was relaxed because I was listening to my favorite Karen Carpenter songs and Kris Aquino's Songs of Love and Healing.

Inside our kits were 3 scenic route patterned papers, a 12 x 12 acrylic sheet, a yellow heidi swapp flower, 3 eyelets and a strip of Elsie fabric. The first rule was to use everything on the kit, but you can still add anything that you can purchase inside the fest. Next was you have to execute three scrapbooking techniques... first I made strips with paper tearing and inked them or kinda distressed it and then I started stitching. Since I really had no idea of using acrylics, I just painted on the sides and that was it! I just adhered some flowers and chipboard, wrote my journals and stamped a little using staz on ink.

I made it to the top 6! This is just enough for me and I am just so happy with it, super happy talaga!

Scrappin' Mom's Idol 7-week Layouts

Scrappin' Mom's Idol is finally over... tapos na rin ang sleepless nights, pressured and panic moments. I was able to make it to the top 6 and that pa lang is a very big achievement for me. I'm so happy for the experience, many lessons learned and the friendships I made during this 2-month challenge. And to all the members of the Scrappin' Moms... Salamat sa inyong lahat and Congratulations for the success of this challenge! To the 1st IDOL, Cabbie Jane Lopez and to the rest of the finalist, Congratulations too and nice taking the flight with you guys! And now, I'm so excited to post my experiences and entries...

Ellimination Round: "Scraplift your Idol", the challenge is to copy a layout of your favorite international scrapbooking idol and I choose CD Muckosky. I entirely copied her layout "Just Me" and mine is entitled "Issa"...

Round 1:"Stuck on Cardstock", the challenge is to use cardstocks only and no printed papers, 50% of the base cardstock should be visible. I love this photo of Enzo, this was taken in one of our vacations in Baguio when he was still learning to walk. The title of this is "First Steps...to the colorful world of Life."

Round 2: "What's your Color?", the challenge is to use monochromatic shades of the color of your choice, one word title and the journaling should be visible in the layout. My entry is entitled "Pasaway", a title given by Cors. Enzo was so pasaway, that every afternoon he would water the plants in Mommy's garden and later jump into his favorite "batya". I was crying to Ate Liezl the afternoon I was supposed to upload this entry, I had the hardest time taking shots on this one because I only have a 3 mega pixel easy share camera.

Round 3: "Alter It!", the challenge is to repurpose a household item using 3 non-scrapbooking materials. I altered an old desk calendar and turned it into a recipe book holder of my Mommy's Secret Recipes. I must admit, this was the round I thought I would be finally elliminated! Thanks to Gee, Helga's husband for taking shots on this round.

Round 4: "What's in a Photo" , challenge is to use one photo (a photo of any object that is a significant in your life), two fabrics, three words in the title and four kinds of embellishments. My entry is entitled "In my Heart..". Every year during all Saint's Day, I always bring flowers and an angel candle for Maxine. Then I take pictures of it as souvenirs and keep it in her baby book. This was the first time I scrapped a page for her.

Round 5: "No Photos Allowed", challenge is not to use pictures but instead memorabilia or ephemera only, needs sewing and doodling, adhere a flower, a metal embelishment and a pocket, and use of rub-ons and chipboard. I made this layout entitled "Dear Maxine". This was the first time I wrote about the whole story of my angel Maxine. It was more than six years ago and up to now, it's still hurting me...

Round 6: "Words from the Heart", challenge is to make a spread using a picture not smaller than 5r size, use of papers from 3 different manufacturers, paint, stamp using non-scrapbooking tools and incorporate a quote that will match the theme. My entry is entitled "After the storm... Life goes on". I don't have new family pictures and since I have a new camera, I decided to go out and take some shots. Dodo and I loved the sight of the fallen tree beside the UPLB Auditorium, so the boys played for a while before we finally posed. Thanks to Yvette for taking our pictures.
